Prior to his role at North Atlantic, Mr. Lomond served as a Deputy Minister in the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for the Departments of Municipal and Provincial Affairs; Natural Resources; and Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development. His experience in economic and business development also includes senior management roles with the econext (formerly the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Association), the Newfoundland and Labrador Regional Economic Development Association (NLREDA), and the Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development at Memorial University. He currently serves on the Board of the Canadian Fuels Association (CFA), the Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association (ACADA), and is Chairperson of North Sun Energy LP. Mr. Lomond’s has a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Philosophy in Humanities, a Master Certificate in Project Management, and diplomas in Applied Ethics (Environmental) and Credit Management. He is a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies at Memorial University and previously was a lecturer in the Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University. He is a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP/FIBP) and in 2024 he received the Newfoundland and Labrador Confederation 75th Anniversary Medal.
